Electric Scooters FAQ

How long do electric scooters last

Here at Swifty Scooters, our scooters are built to last. Your electric scooter will sustain its quality for some years, as long as you apply the correct care and maintenance. Each one of our electric scooters shares the details of its components, including the materials used for their frames. Our scooters with aluminium or stainless steel parts will not rust. It is important to note, however, that all of our scooters also have steel front forks that are zinc-plated and covered by paintwork. Should the paintwork chip, rusting is possible. Cleaning your scooter is also recommended every so often. You can clean electric scooters with soap and a soft sponge, but be sure not to submerge your scooter or jet wash it, as this can lead to permanent damage.

Are electric scooters safe in the rain

Yes, quality electric scooters are safe in the rain. You should check that your scooter features an IP65-rated battery, meaning that the battery is ‘protected from low-pressure water jets from any direction, with limited ingress protection’. Here at Swifty Scooters, all of our electric scooters have this integrated battery. For this reason, you can scoot through the rainiest of weather conditions without a worry! Please note that you should not submerge your scooter in water, and when cleaning your electric scooter, it should be done with a soft sponge.

What is the battery life of Swifty’s electric scooters?

A full charge on a Swifty electric scooter can take you 45 km / 25 miles at top speed. The battery life of your electric scooter can also depend on the terrain that you are driving on. For example, higher resistance is required on bumpier terrain; therefore, the millage may be reduced in these circumstances. The battery takes 5 hours for a full charge and can be detached from the electric scooter to charge as you would your phone. Our electric scooters are ‘kick-assisted’, meaning you can save your electric scooter battery by switching the battery off and using your electric scooter as a typical kick scooter.

What makes electric scooters sustainable?

Electric scooters are one of the most popular choices for energy-efficient, light electric transport. Producing zero carbon emissions, electric scooters are eco-friendly and proven to reduce the air pollution that traffic and congestion continue to emit. The cost to charge and maintain an electric scooter is minimal, costing 10p per full battery charge on average. What's more, electric scooters can be charged using power from renewable energy sources such as wind turbines and solar power, making them the perfect alternative to the CO2-producing vehicles we are so familiar with. Electric scooters are also much smaller and lighter electric vehicles, created with recyclable materials such as aluminium and stainless steel. They can be easily repurposed.
